Multi Spindle Screw Machining

Multiple Spindle Screw Machine Products & Machined Parts

Multi-spindle screw machining delivers the lowest piece price for medium-to-very-high volumes by running several spindles at once to drill, ream, mill, and thread in a single cycle. Avanti Engineering, Inc. (ISO 9001:2015) machines carbon & alloy steels, stainless, aluminum, copper/brass from 0.125″ to 2.625″ bar (round & hex). We provide PPAP/FAI, heat/lot traceability, and programs like VMI and blanket releases for OEM-grade, repeatable parts—on time and at scale.

Why Multi-Spindle Matters for Industrial Buyers

When demand spikes and delivery windows are tight, cycle time is everything. Multi-spindle equipment executes multiple operations simultaneously—turning, cross-drilling, back-drilling, reaming, milling, threading, knurling, and chamfering—within a single coordinated cycle.

Business outcomes:

  • Shorter cycle times and lower cost per piece at volume

  • Consistent quality and stable Cp/Cpk across long runs

  • Fewer secondary operations, consolidating processes and suppliers

  • Predictable lead times that keep production schedules on track

When Multi-Spindle Is the Best Fit

Choose multi-spindle when your parts and business case include:

  • Medium–very high annual usage with release schedules

  • Repeatable geometries that benefit from simultaneous operations

  • Tight, consistent tolerances with stable material specs

  • Throughput-critical delivery targets and cost-down objectives

For complex geometries, frequent rev changes, or lower volumes, we can recommend CNC Swiss, traditional CNC turning, or a hybrid process that balances speed, flexibility, and cost.

Scenario Multi-Spindle Screw Machining CNC Turning / CNC Swiss
Annual volume Medium–very high (best economics) Low–medium; high if complex mix
Geometry Repeatable features; simultaneous ops Complex forms; frequent revisions
Cycle time Fastest per piece (for suited parts) Slower per piece; very flexible
Piece price Lowest at scale Higher at scale; excellent for proto/EO
Changeovers Longer but stable Faster; frequent change OK
Best use Fittings, shafts, inserts, bushings, connectors Very long/skinny, micro-features, intricate forms

Typical Parts & Applications

  • Fluid power & hydraulics: fittings, unions, ferrules, adaptors, hose ends

  • Automotive & heavy equipment: pins, shafts, bushings, sleeves, spacers

  • Industrial/Commercial hardware: standoffs, threaded inserts, couplings (to print)

  • Electrical & connectors: terminals, contact bodies, compression nuts

  • HVAC & appliance: nozzles, valve components, custom studs, manifolds

Common specs: precision bores, grooves/undercuts, rolled or cut threads, hex/flats, knurls, controlled radii & chamfers, surface finish targets aligned to function (seal, press-fit, torque).

Engineering & Quality Support

Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Early collaboration on tolerances, GD&T, datum schemes, and material grades to prevent cost and schedule surprises.
Process Design: Optimal platform selection (multi-spindle, CNC Swiss, hybrid) and tooling package to consolidate operations.
Quality System: ISO 9001:2015; in-process and final inspection per CTQs; PPAP/FAI, C of C, material certs, and heat/lot traceability available.
Documentation & Compliance: RoHS/REACH, custom inspection plans, gauge R&R support upon request.

FAQs

How do I know if multi-spindle is right for my part?
If your annual usage is medium-to-high and geometry includes repeatable drilling/reaming/threading features, multi-spindle generally provides the fastest cycle time and lowest piece price.

What tolerances can you hold?
We machine to print and align process controls to your CTQs. During quoting we’ll flag features that may require alternate processing (e.g., grinding, honing) to meet tolerance/finish combinations.

Can you run hex stock and form hex heads?
Yes. We have hex bar capacity and on-machine attachments for hex features and heads, which often removes secondary milling.

What documentation can you provide?
PPAP/FAI, C of C, material certs, and full heat/lot traceability per your requirements.

Do you support inventory programs?
Yes—blanket POs, scheduled releases, Kanban, and VMI to stabilize pricing and lead times while reducing on-hand inventory.

Do you sell standard fasteners?
No. We manufacture custom parts to customer drawings; we do not sell off-the-shelf fasteners.

Bring us your print, annual usage targets, and timing. We’ll recommend the most cost-effective path—multi-spindle, CNC, or a hybrid—to hit your quality, delivery, and cost goals.
