ISO Certified Quality Assurance
Quality Assurance & Inspection for Precision CNC Machining
Avanti Engineering ensures CNC machining quality through ISO 9001:2015–aligned processes, C=0 acceptance sampling, SPC-driven in-process checks, NIST-traceable metrology, first-article/ISIR verification, optional PPAP evidence, and documented final inspection—with optional 100% high-speed vision sorting to drive near-zero PPM.
Our Quality Approach
Quality isn’t a checkpoint—it’s built into every operation from raw material selection to shipping. We use defined best practices and continuous improvement to reduce variation, eliminate defects, and shorten lead times.
-
C=0 acceptance sampling (zero defects accepted in the sample)
-
Low PPM performance maintained through rigorous in-process control
-
Optional 100% vision sorting to reach the tightest AQL/PPM targets
ISO 9001:2015 Certified
Our quality system aligns with ISO 9001:2015 across planning, audits, document control, corrective action, training, and SPC. You get consistent, repeatable results backed by traceable records and clear communication at every stage.

How We Control Quality In-Process
We don’t “inspect quality in”—we control it during production.
-
Control plans for critical-to-quality (CTQ) features
-
First-piece approvals and tool-life management to reduce drift
-
Operator self-inspection plus scheduled in-process checks
-
SPC to detect trends before they become defects
-
C=0 sampling at defined intervals for zero-acceptance at the sample level
Metrology & Measurement Capabilities
Our quality lab uses NIST-traceable equipment for both contact and non-contact measurements to verify tight tolerances and surface finishes.
-
Attribute gauges & thread gauges
-
Micrometers and microprocessor measurement systems
-
OASIS non-contact inspection system
-
Optical comparators
-
Flatness and roundness measurement systems
-
Profilometer (surface roughness)
-
Hardness testers

First Article, Reporting & Traceability
Every new part begins with preliminary sampling and a first-article/ISIR to lock in capability and documentation.
-
ISIR with full dimensional results (typical 5-piece full layout)
-
Lot-level traceability for material, processes, and inspection records
-
Clear quality reports to expedite approvals and launches
PPAP Support (When You Need Automotive-Level Evidence)
Upon request, we provide PPAP packages tailored to your requirements.
-
Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams
-
PFMEA (design/process as required)
-
MSA (gage R&R as applicable)
-
Dimensional layouts and inspection records
-
Material and special-process certifications; IMDS submissions
-
PSW (Part Submission Warrant)
Final Inspection & Shipping
Before anything leaves our dock, parts pass a documented final inspection against your print and PO. For approved supplier programs, we ship direct to your facility or distribution network with the evidence you need on file.
-
Optional 100% high-speed vision sorting to further reduce PPM
-
Packaging to spec to protect finishes and critical dimensions

Quick Glossary (≤40-word definitions)
-
C=0 Sampling: Zero-acceptance sampling—any defect in the sample rejects the lot.
-
PPM: Parts per million; a defect-rate metric over time.
-
AQL: Acceptable Quality Limit; maximum defect rate allowed in sampling.
-
ISIR: Initial Sample Inspection Report; dimensional proof the part meets print.
-
PPAP: Production Part Approval Process; complete evidence package (e.g., Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, PSW PFD).
-
SPC: Statistical Process Control; uses data to control process variation.
-
MSA: Measurement Systems Analysis; confirms gage accuracy and repeatability.
ISIR vs. PPAP (What’s the Difference?)
| Aspect | ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Report) | PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Dimensional/first-article proof part meets print | Full process evidence for part and process approval |
| When Used | Most new parts; drawing verification | Automotive/regulated, or when contractually required |
| Includes | Full layout + material/special process certs | ISIR + Control Plan, FMEA, MSA, Process Flow, PSW, certs |
| Buyer Benefit | Faster, focused approval, no cost | Documented capability and lower supplier risk. Billed at $395 |
Common Questions
How does C=0 improve delivered quality?
Any defect in the sample triggers rejection, which drives strong process control and lower delivered PPM.
PPM vs. AQL—what’s the difference?
PPM tracks actual defect rates over time. AQL sets the maximum allowed defects in a sampling decision. We target both via C=0 sampling and optional 100% sorting.
Do I need PPAP for non-automotive parts?
Often no. An ISIR plus certs is sufficient unless your industry or contract requires PPAP.
Can you provide full material and process traceability?
Yes. We maintain lot traceability and can supply material certs, special-process certs, dimensional reports, and more.
How do SPC checks reduce variation during a run?
SPC detects trends and tool wear early, enabling adjustments before parts go out of tolerance.
What’s included in your ISIR?
A full dimensional layout (typical 5-piece full), material/special-process certifications, and any additional evidence requested.
How We Start a New Program (Simple 5-Step Flow)
-
DFM & Quality Planning: Confirm drawing intent, CTQs, gaging, and control plan.
-
Process Prove-Out: First-piece approval, tool strategy, SPC setup.
-
First Article (ISIR): Full dimensional and functional verification.
-
Run-at-Rate (as required): Validate throughput and stability.
-
Ongoing Control: In-process checks, audits, final inspection, reporting.
