About Avanti Engineering, Inc.
Avanti Engineering, Inc. is a family-owned precision machining manufacturer specializing in high-volume screw-machined, CNC-turned and Swiss-machined components for OEMs and industrial manufacturers.
Founded in 1972, Avanti has grown from a small garage operation with a Davenport screw machine into a 55,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
More than 50 years later, the focus remains straightforward: manufacture precision parts to customer specifications, control quality throughout production and provide reliable support for ongoing manufacturing programs.
Who Is Avanti Engineering?
Avanti Engineering was founded by Joseph J. Bratta in 1972. The name Avanti means “forward” in Italian—a fitting description for a company that has continued to expand its equipment, technology and manufacturing capabilities over the decades.
What began with a single Davenport has developed into a broad production operation combining traditional screw machining with CNC turning, Swiss CNC machining, multi-spindle technology and modern automated equipment.
That range gives Avanti the flexibility to match the manufacturing process to the part rather than trying to fit every component to the same type of machine.
High-Volume Precision Machining for OEM Production
Avanti primarily supports recurring production programs, with quantities typically beginning around 1,000 pieces and extending into millions of parts.
Depending on the component, material, tolerances and required volume, production capabilities include:
- High-volume precision machining
- CNC machining and turning
- Swiss CNC machining
- Multi-spindle screw machining
- Automatic bar machining
- CNC vertical and horizontal machining
- In-house tooling and Wire EDM
- Secondary and value-added operations
- Light assembly
This combination is particularly valuable for repeat production parts because different equipment can be evaluated for cycle time, complexity, tolerances and overall manufacturing efficiency.
Continuing to Invest in Manufacturing Technology
Avanti continues to invest in equipment that expands its production options.
In 2026, the company added a Hybrid Davenport machine, combining traditional Davenport multi-spindle productivity with CNC-controlled capabilities.
For the right component, the Hybrid Davenport can perform features such as cross holes, tapped holes, milled flats, threads, boring, profiles and back-working while maintaining the production advantages of a multi-spindle platform.
It also gives Avanti another option when determining whether a part is best suited for traditional screw machining, CNC turning, Swiss CNC machining or a hybrid process.
Quality Control for Long-Running Production
Making an acceptable first part is only the beginning. For OEM production, the manufacturing process must continue producing parts that meet specifications throughout the run and across repeat orders.
Avanti operates under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system supported by documented inspection and process controls.
Quality assurance capabilities include:
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- C=0 acceptance sampling
- NIST-traceable measurement equipment
- First-article and ISIR documentation
- PPAP documentation when required
- Material and production traceability
- In-process and final inspection
- 100% vision sorting when appropriate
These controls help identify variation during manufacturing and provide the documentation OEM customers may require for part approval and ongoing production.
Materials Avanti Machines
Avanti regularly produces components from materials including carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, brass and aluminum.
Material properties affect much more than the finished part. Machinability, tool life, tolerances, surface finish, production speed and secondary operations can all influence how efficiently a component can be manufactured.
Avanti can also provide engineering and manufacturability support to help customers review part requirements before production.
Experience That Supports Long-Term Production
Equipment is important, but successful production also depends on experienced people, process knowledge and the ability to solve manufacturing problems as they arise.
Avanti’s history spans more than five decades of changes in machining technology. The company has continued to add modern CNC and automated equipment while maintaining the high-volume screw machining capabilities on which the business was built.
That combination allows Avanti to support both established production parts and new programs that require a different or more efficient manufacturing approach.

Frequently Asked Questions
What information should I provide when requesting a machining quote?
Providing a current part drawing, material specification, tolerances, estimated annual volume and order quantities helps Avanti determine the appropriate manufacturing process and prepare an accurate quote.
Can Avanti handle secondary operations in addition to machining?
Yes. Avanti provides and coordinates a range of secondary operations, including processes such as broaching, slotting, grinding, heat treating, plating, part washing, thread locking and assembly.
What quality documentation can Avanti provide for OEM production?
Depending on customer requirements, Avanti can support documentation including first-article inspection, ISIR, PPAP, material and production traceability, SPC data and other production quality records.
